What is SUP Yoga?

SUP Yoga or StandUp Paddleboard Yoga blends together the many benefits of practicing Yoga with the beauty
of being on the water. In stead of practicing on a yoga mat, we bring our practice on to our paddle board which becomes our floating yoga mat.

SUP Yoga is a great way to enhance your practice and the overall Yoga experience. As the water always gives us that bit of movement, our bodies
will have to respond to this by maximising our core stability, by keeping our focus and concentration and keeping our awareness
in the present moment and connected with the nature around us.

And the best part of the practice on the water…is the Savasana (or end relaxation) where you feel the gentle tapping of water
against your board and you can slowly drift away in the motions of the waves or the sounds of nature around you.

Benefits of SUP Yoga

There are so many benefits of taking your Yoga practice out on the water, here are just a few:

Being on the water can help to bring a sense of tranquility and calmness and to relax and clear your mind.
Practicing Yoga whilst enjoying the surroundings of nature and being able to connect with the elements of nature both physically and emotionally.
Increased relaxation, reducing of stress levels and an overall sense of well-being.
Flexibility and strengthening of the muscles. Improve balance, posture, coordination, endurance and strength.
All the benefits as from a regular yoga practice (such as reduce of stress and anxiety, improve of blood circulation,
improve respiration, energy & vitality and lowers blood pressure)

What to expect from a SUP Yoga Class?

The session will be 60 minutes and will start with a short land based briefing on the boards, all equipment used and also how to paddle,
before we head out on the water. We then paddle on knees and practice some basic skills,
before anchoring our boards to start our SUP Yoga session. Here we find our own level of challenge, play, laugh
and end with relaxation, assisted by the gentle lapping of water against our boards.

Previous experience of paddle boarding and yoga will be helpful but not necessary.
Suitable for complete beginners and experienced paddlers or yogis.
All equipment included (paddle board & buoyancy aid)
